English for Children

Our mission is based on the understanding that great leaps in learning happen with attention to strong speaking and writing skills. Students begin to recognise the relationship between their writing and communication. They will overcome barriers to figure out how to communicate their ideas. There will be opportunities that build on childrens’ experience and strengthen their ability to express ideas effectively, creatively, confidently, and in their own voices.

Lessons will be given on topics that appeal to elementary writers, both to those who like writing and reading and those who don’t. There’s a particular emphasis on fun, yes, but also on building blocks: the fundamentals of narrative, character development, self-expression.

Children will be engaged in very academic endeavours. They will organise their ideas, craft arguments, revise their work, state their point of view, peer-editing a friend’s work, and generally learning an awful lot about the hard work and the craft of writing.
